Cleanup Day at Airdrie Forest Preserve

A crew of enthusiastic volunteers felt a great sense of accomplishment in cleaning up a section of Airdrie Forest Preserve and some adjacent vacant lots, generating a huge pile of old garbage that had accumulated over the past 50+ years. The volunteers removed old refrigerators, tires, bicycles, numerous other rusted antiques and trash from the Little Valley Creek bed and surrounding area.

The cleanup day was organized by Airdrie Forest Preserve volunteeer manager Tim Lander, as part of Tidy Up Tredyffrin Day and the Great PA Cleanup initiative on Saturday, May 3, 2008. "Our volunteers made a big difference in helping to clear the area of garbage that had accumulated over many decades. There were three dump truck loads of trash collected by Tredyffrin Township, reportedly the biggest pile of any neighborhood cleanup effort".

Open Land Conservancy sincerely appreciates the efforts of the following volunteers ---- Mark Zhen, Sue Stedman, Rick Linder, Eric Stern, Barbara Romaine, Yusuf Romaine, Jean & Bill Scholz, Tim Lander, Ray Clarke, Neil McAloon, and Art Blumenthal.
